Dr. Robert Lopanik

Dr. Lopanik has recently retired from regularly scheduled patient care. However, he still sees patients on an as needed basis and will always be a part of our Charleston Eye family. Dr. Lopanik had been practicing in Charleston since 1973, when he first joined the practice of S. Thomas Scarborough, O.D.   Over the years he has devoted much of his time to the profession of Optometry.  He has held numerous elected positions within the profession including President of the S.C. Optometric Association, President of the S.C. Board of Examiners in Optometry, and President of the Southern Council of Optometrists.  His dedication to excellence in his profession culminated with him receiving recognition as “1998 Optometrist of the Year” for the state of South Carolina, and “1999 Optometrist of the South: for the Southeastern region of the United States.
